Set Hand Rest Pose

In MOVIN Studio, you can configure a hand rest pose to define how the hands appear in your motion capture data. This helps improve animation quality—especially when you're using custom characters or integrating third-party gloves.
By matching the default hand pose to your character’s model or glove specifications, you can achieve more accurate and natural motion results.
If you are using both a custom character and a third-party glove, we recommend adjusting your character's default hand pose to match the glove’s base configuration before importing it into MOVIN Studio.
To set the hand rest pose, please refer to the following:
Go to the 'Calibration' tab in MOVIN Studio.
Click on the 'Hand Rest Pose' dropdown menu.
Select one of the available hand pose presets.
MOVIN Studio currently supports five preset hand poses in addition to the default option.
All fingers are fully extended in a straight, neutral position. This is the general-purpose fallback pose for basic setups.
A hand pose provided by Rokoko. Recommended when using Rokoko Smartgloves for motion capture.
A hand pose provided by MANUS. Recommended when using MANUS gloves for motion capture.
This hand pose mimics the default hand pose of the Unreal Engine mannequin, featuring a naturally relaxed finger spread. If your custom character shares this hand layout, we recommend selecting this option.
A pose commonly used in .vrm format characters where the thumb is naturally spread apart from the other four fingers. If your VRM model follows this hand structure, use this preset for optimal retargeting.
In this pose, the thumb is positioned beneath the rest of the fingers. Recommended for custom characters that adopt this particular hand configuration.
