Before you begin recording, you can enable various data validation tools from the bottom of the left panel to inspect the accuracy and stability of your mocap setup.
When you check the 'Foot Contact' box, MOVIN Studio will display visual indicators around the feet whenever they make contact with the ground.
This helps verify whether your character’s feet are anchored correctly to the floor.
By checking 'Skeleton Visualization', you can view the joint and bone structure of the skeleton in real time.
This is especially useful for checking the mocap data quality, retargeting inspection, and also the pose alignment.
The center panel supports:
Zooming with the mouse scroll wheel
Panning by clicking and dragging with the middle mouse button
Rotating the view with the right mouse button
You can also click on the 'Gizmo' in the top right corner to snap the camera view to the X, Y, or Z axis.
To begin recording, Click the red circular button at the bottom center of the main panel to start recording.
During recording, all panels except the center panel will be locked—you won't be able to change settings.
To stop recording, click the red square stop button in the same location.
Once recorded, a file with the actor’s name, the character’s name (if used), and the start time of the recording will appear in the left panel.
All recorded clips can be reviewed from the left panel.
Right-click a clip to rename or delete it.
Double-click a clip to load and preview the motion data in the center panel.
Use tools like Foot Contact and Skeleton Visualization again here to evaluate mocap quality.
In the bottom panel, you’ll find playback controls and metadata.
Time: Displays the current timestamp.
Frame: Shows the current frame number.
Playback Speed: Adjust this to play the clip at different speeds.
Play: Triangle button
Stop: Square button
Loop: Enable repeated playback
Total Time: Total duration of the clip
Total Frames: Total number of frames recorded
To export a recorded motion capture clip, go to the right panel and choose your desired export format in the 'Format' dropdown.
.bvh and .fbx (compatible with Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine) formats are supported.
To export only a specific portion of your motion clip:
Use the playback bar at the bottom to set a start and end range.
Drag the trim handles (square-shaped sliders) to define the segment.
The selected range will become the active playback and export window.
