# Project, Toolbar and Puppet Mode

## Project

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2F7lrcV1Tl3GhWsnUHa0v1%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=ac34e680-edab-4d43-80d6-e2d19235e72e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Project is displayed at the center of the top panel, and all clips, actors, and character retargeting settings are managed within a single project. If you want to keep data separate, create a new project to ensure that clips, actors, and retargeting settings do not overlap.

A project is based on a single folder. If you want to continue working on an existing project from another computer, copy the project folder to that computer and open that folder as a project.

### **Create New Project**

* Since projects are folder-based, creating a new project requires a new folder.
* Click the dropdown at the center of the top panel, then select "Open new or existing project."
* Create a folder in your desired location, then select it to set it as your project.

### **Open Project**

* Click the dropdown at the center of the top panel and select the desired project.
* If the project does not appear in the list, click "Open new or existing project", then select the project folder containing your data to open it.

### **Open Project Directory**

* To view the project folder, click the folder icon at the center of the top panel.

## Toolbar

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2Fz5II8YWywGE9GVxtBR4q%2FGroup%2045.png?alt=media&#x26;token=8aedf6ec-3bce-47de-ad80-67b792335874" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The toolbar is located at the top of the central panel and gathers the most frequently used functions during motion capture, such as setting up the environment or checking motion data.

### Puppet Mode

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2FYVt7mCYHaxK0fflMpH4I%2Fpuppet%20mode.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=f0bdc83a-32e8-439b-ba05-b4a5436a13f5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Puppet Mode is located at the first position on the toolbar and allows you to set up a virtual puppet in the motion capture space to perform specific actions.

* With Puppet Mode, you can conveniently set up the environment even when performing motion capture alone.
* When Puppet Mode is enabled and you proceed with [hands-motion-capture-beta](https://help.movin3d.com/movin-studio-usage-guide/hands-setting/hands-motion-capture-beta "mention") or [integrate-with-3rd-party-gloves](https://help.movin3d.com/movin-studio-usage-guide/hands-setting/integrate-with-3rd-party-gloves "mention"), the puppet will display hand movements based on live hand tracking rather than the hand motion data included in the clip.
* There are currently seven actions available for the puppet:
  * Idle (A-pose, walk): Performs A-pose and idle walking.
  * Idle (Arm & Head): Focuses on arm and head movements such as arm rotations and head turns.
  * Idle (Standing): Performs a standing idle pose.
  * Jumps: Focuses on jumping movements such as vertical jumps, side jumps, and spins.
  * Running: Performs running across the motion capture area.
  * Sitting: Performs sitting actions.
  * Subtle: Performs small, subtle actions such as moving hands in front of the torso or moving hands while seated.
* In Puppet Mode, you can play not only the assigned clips but also clips you have recorded yourself.
  * Capture the movements you need, then play them back easily.

### Foot Contact

* The Foot Contact button is the second on the toolbar. When clicked, it highlights the area around the feet when the soles are in contact with the ground.
  * This function allows you to clearly check whether the feet in the motion capture data are grounded properly.

### Skeleton Visualization

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2FmqR2ms29Ovdmimqowrvd%2Fskeleton%20visualization.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=23827a52-0d7c-4b8f-a7e2-6dc176a43c1a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* The Skeleton Visualization button is the third on the toolbar. When clicked, it displays the joints and skeletal structure.
  * Use this to intuitively check the positions and movements of the skeleton when inspecting motion capture data quality or performing retargeting.

### Mirror Mode

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2FRSBcWuz8HCX8v1EzUtcm%2Fmirror.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=13371f59-73fa-480a-b806-c781a0007286" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* The Mirror Mode button is the fourth on the toolbar. When clicked, it flips the motion capture data horizontally.
  * Use this when shooting with a screen placed in front of the motion capture area while checking the motion data.

### Inplace Mode

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2FXbxeolczWxAIjplWMlTb%2Finplace.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=2df45971-26ec-4cbd-849c-654e8bfb963e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* The Inplace Mode button is the fifth on the toolbar. When clicked, it fixes the character at the center of the motion capture area.
  * Use this if you want to check motion data when the actor is not facing forward.

### Live-streaming

<figure><img src="https://935889915-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FpjitYtIcckwQaYBZMIj0%2Fuploads%2FxPWgGrU0fAoI7UeBd2yG%2Fstreaming.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=d92db4ad-7240-4d59-978a-98db8a1b186d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* The Live-streaming button is the sixth on the toolbar and displays the same content as the Streaming tab, which is the third tab on the right panel.
  * Use this for quicker access when turning live streaming on or off.
  * For more detailed explanations related to live streaming, please refer to [live-streaming](https://help.movin3d.com/movin-studio-usage-guide/live-streaming "mention").
